The problem with some of those episodes you mentioned is that AJ is often the very worst part.
MLP APPLEJACK SERIES
The AJ DVD they are releasing has some of the worst AJ episodes in the series in it like AJs Day Off, Carts, Leap of Faith and PPOV, with only one decent episode. I think you might have a point with your last paragraph. I hope that’s not the case, but I’m incapable of completely dismissing that possibility. The premise of the episodes themselves are poor, and that’s not Applejacks fault.Ī suspicious part of me thinks Hasbro May be intentionally torpedoing Applejack episodes in an attempt to make her less popular so that when they change her in the next generation it will be a more welcome change. (Indeed a moral that seems forgotten here for the sake of having an episode.) Like Cart Before the Ponies, Rainbow Dash is written just as poorly as AJ, and we get anglorified rehash of Fall Weather Friends without the excitement of the race or the moral at the end. Since I’ve gone into great detail about this episode previously I will refrain here for brevities sake. Honest Apple was an abomination from beginning to end and Applejack was the least thing wrong with that episode. The entire thing could have been resolved if they had just traded big sisters to suit their design needs. In Cart Before the Ponies, all of the big sisters are written badly, and the conflict is again contrived with the CMC choosing to work against type (both of themselves and their big sisters) entirely arbitrarily.
Further there was no problem previously where Applejack couldn’t take time off to relax or go on an adventure with the others that she had to say no to because of chores. Time is an asset not to be squandered on a farm as there are only so many hours of daylight, and a pony that is as keen to fix problems for others should be just as keen on her own efficiency.
MLP APPLEJACK PROFESSIONAL
In Applejacks Day Off the conflict is contrived and non-sensical there is no good reason why A professional farmer would have such odd and time consuming rituals for getting chores done. I do agree that the episodes that feature Applejack have themselves been subpar, and it’s not just how Applejack is written, but how the episode itself is written. Or more accurately, just the episodes.Īpplejack has some of the funnier lines in the MLP movie, and in episodes where she is more in the background (yes, go ahead and make the jokes) she really excels, such as in Grannies Gone Wild.
